I was at a flea market yesterday, and saw a pedal board for sale. It
was an Arion case with a power supply, filled with Ibanez and Boss
pedals. It had an Ibanez 10 series analog delay and phaser, a Boss
DS-1, EQ and one other Boss pedal (maybe an Auto-wah).
The seller wanted $250 for everything and wouldn't break up the set. I
guess that's a fair price. But suddenly it hit me. I DON'T NEED
ANYMORE PEDALS. I have enough (several distortions, a compresser, 2
wahs, 2 vibes, a phaser, a flanger, a trem, a leslie sim, 2 delays and
some misc weird stuff).
The kicker is, most of this stuff sits on a shelf or in a drawer. I
use my Pod XT Live for gigs and band practice. I only break out the
single pedals when I'm recording at home, or messing around to find
new sounds. Usually, when I *DO* find a new effect combination I like,
I can duplicate it with my XTL.
Then I got home and looked at my 5 guitars (not counting the 2 loaned
to my kids), 3 amps, keyboard, PA system and mandolin. Yep, I don't
need to buy and more music gear. I need to start saving money.
